Origins of Beat Drop Kidz
BEAT DROP KIDZ:
In 2014, our founder Joe Edrozo aka DJ Klutz created a dance crew with his son and a couple of friends in Phoenix. Under the instruction of Tony O'Hannan aka Chocolate Thundah & other teachers at their first practice facility "Cyphers", they created the Beat Drop Kidz! From there, they created the concept of recruiting skilled dancers to mentor kids who couldn't afford studios and with hard work the kids were "battled-in" to become full pledged members of BDK themselves. Holding the same values at the Phoenix Division, 4 members from Tucson were recruited & "battled in" to carry on the mission established by DJ Klutz. Those 4 were Chris McKinney aka Paranormal/Ronin, Chris Ortiz aka Vortex,John Williams aka Johnny Tsunami.
Today, we use our collective skills in the Tucson Division, overseen by our leader Johnny Tsunami, to continue to teach the youth & spread our teachings as well as provide services to give jobs to those through the avenue of Hip Hop! In 2017 we started our after school dance program teaching many forms of Street Dance Styles & bringing them directly into the Schools. We also perform at almost every "2nd Saturdays" in Tucson doing street shows if you want to come out and see what we're all about! We stay very active in the Hip Hop Community & use our skills to provide awesome as well as quality services and to provide our crew members with jobs to help them "make their Passion their paycheck". We believe in the mantra "Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard". We teach our students that with hard work & dedication anything can be achieved. We are... BEAT DROP KIDZ! Let the beat... mmmmmmm DROP!
